what is the best age to get students into technology?

Throughout the time, technology has became a great impact around all the world; nowadays, it seems how children have the ability to use electronic tools like computers, tablet, cell phones and other types of technologies.

According to the studies, the best age to learn is since childhood because it´s consider that children learn quickly and better than adults, it´s because their brains are inclined to obtain more learning than adults and also they are curious to learn and know things, in fact, they are like sponges that absorb everything and retain more information, it´s easy for them to memorize and the increase to develop their skills is better than any other age.

Basically, kids have a strong adaptation to technology, it´s like if they born with the ability to use it, they don´t have problems to know how to use a computer or other kind of technology, in fact, they are able to use technology and it´s better if the teacher motivates them to use it with educational purpose. The teachers have to take advantage of using technology and apply it in the learning process, specially childrens and young people like to use it. In addition, our world is surrounded of technology and children need to know about it.

Despite some advantage of using technology since early, there are also some cons, in fact, if children don´t use the technology properly they can be affected by the bad consequences, for instance, nowadays, many children are not use technology correctly, they use it to play video games, to chat in social networks such as facebook, twitter and other websites, also they can be exposed to talk with bad people if their parents don´t care of them. I strongly believe that parents and teacher can help students to use technology in learning interesting and educational purpose, things that are productive for them and their develop in their future.

As our subject, instructional technology, we already saw a lot of tools that teacher can use with children help them to improve their knowledge by using the technology.

In addition, children can be introduce to technology since they are in kindergarten, the teacher can take advantage that they can use it to learn, in fact, the teachers can use different tools to teach, for instance, they can learn by playing, nowadays, there are some learning games and other kind of interesting ways to teach to children by using technology, but also they have to be supervised by adults.

To summarize, there aren´t parameters to determinate the best age to introduce technology, but I consider that a good age to introduce technology is since 6 to 8 because they skills are more developed and their age allow them to obtain more learning than adults.

Basically, the most important thing, it´s not the age but the way how the teachers lead to students to be able to understand how they have to use technology. As teachers, we have to teach our students the best way to use technology and what will happen if they use it incorrectly, also the teachers can motivate students to use technology in learning. To summarize, teachers can start to involve students into technology since children and that also help them in their future.

Good and bad things on presential and online classes!!!

Internet has become a global tool available for the majority of people and very useful in many areas; in particular, the constant development of technology and the use of Internet have become a strong influence in education. Nowadays, teachers can assign online homework, quizzes, forums, etc, and use different web programs to assess their students. Also, students have different opportunities to study online schedule or take a course via online,

Advantages of Online Classes:

I consider that there is more flexibility when you take an online course, because students who work or don´t have the opportunity to study a normal course because their responsibilities, they can take a online course according their schedules, while in a normal course is impossible. Also, Students save more money because they don´t have to travel or eat outside. Furthermore, Students can learn more about the use of technology, they can learn how to use innovate tools through develop their activities, homework, etc. In addition, students can develop their skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Also, their learning styles, for example, the use of videos and pictures are very useful for visual learners.

Disadvantages of Online Classes:
- Students don´t have the opportunity to socialize with others, it´s very important because in many cases, students have doubts, questions; in some cases, the online class could be open to questions about a certain topic at the moment , but if students don´t know how to use a tool could be a big problem in these special cases. Also, there is not any relation or communication between teachers and students, so imagine that there is a problem regarding to grades or other important aspects that students can´t discuss.
-Students need a computer and access to Internet.
-Students don´t have the opportunity to practice speaking skill with someone else, so there is not exist the proper communication and interaction with other which is an important aspect to take into account.

Advantage of Presential Classes:

-Students can talk with teachers and classmates, when the students have doubts and questions

they can ask immediately to the teacher at the moment and students understand better

because the teacher is there. Also, student can interact with other classmates and practice

speaking.

-I consider that one of the best advantages is that when students make presentations they

have the opportunity to develop themselves, because they are explaining the topic to the public,

so they lose the fear of being in front of others.

- Attending classes, students are able to face different problems so they can face future

problems in a job, due to this, the experience in socialize between them in real life is so

important for future events.

Disadvantage of Presential Classes:

-Students have to travel a lot of time in some cases, spend money in food, copies, etc.

-Students have to assist to the school according to the schedules of classes already

established, there is not flexibility to change the schedule.

- The concentration is more difficult to achieve than in an online course.

-Sometimes students cannot attend to classes because a familiar or personal problem, illness,

accidents, weather, etc; however, all these aspects can affect students, because some schools

have rules regarding to attendance.

Given these facts, It could say that there are benefits as disadvantages in both of them,

students have the opportunity to decide what is the best option for them to take a course

that could be presential or online.

HOW TO USE THESE HELFUL TOOLS IN A LESSON PLAN : Mind 42, Mailvu, YouThink and BrainShark.

Technology has been evolved throughout the years, as well as teaching; nowadays it exits a lot of tools or applications very useful in teaching process.
Some helpful tools to use in a lesson plan are: Mind 42, Mailvu, You Think and BranShark.

Mind 42:

Teachers can use it to create a mind mapping about wherever topic, this means that you can create a diagram to visualize outline information, insert text or images, I mean, you can add images from URL and add notes to branches between other things, for example, teachers can upload pictures and ask students to guess their meaning. Also, it could be helpful to teach vocabulary or to summarize a explication of concepts and ideas in order to help students to remember main points, also you can ask them to develop an activity in which they can summarize a topic between other things.

Mailvu:

It´s an online video recording and very useful to create a video emails, allows teachers and students make an easy online video for about 10 minutes and share it. One advantage is that you don´t need to register, you can send it to others and also you can delete them. In addition, teachers can send full length videos via video text or video emails so quickly; using this tool, students can improve their listening and speaking skills. Also, you can use Mailvu to give feedback to send it to your students by a quickly message or you can record a video email in Mailvu to make a short presentation about a specific topic or ask students to make a homework in this new technological tool. In addition, this tool is very helpful for developing their speaking, listening, and for visual learners, etc. In fact you can create a video email for many teaching purposes.

You Think:

I really like this tool because you can do a lot of thing here, you can use it to ask your students to develop several activities; for example, this tool is very useful to create quizzes, articles, personality tests, ask and answer questions, profiles, forums, journals, etc. For example, teacher can ask students to practice a quizz, in this case the teacher can add many questions as possible and also to assign homework to them, for example ask students to write a journal about their childhood if you are teaching the simple past, etc.

BrainShark:

It allows you to create online video presentations, and add sound to Power Point presentations, share documents, explain meanings, etc. for example, teachers can transform a power point or word presentation into voiced presentation and share it through androids cell phones, ipads, pc, etc. This applications is very helpful because it could be useful to teach a class for example as a manner of have a personal interaction with students by online tools. BrainShark is appropriated for using in speaking activities, for example students can record a video and the teacher can check their pronunciation, fluency, grammar and any other issue and it´s very helpful for audio-visual and kinesthetic learners.
In fact, this is my favorite tool because students can develop all the macro skills, because they have to listen, type and speak what they have to present. So, personally, I would really like to use this tool in my lesson plan.

Word Google:

This tools allows you to share documents on internet and everyone can have access to your work from anywhere in the world. It´s great because neither students nor you have problems to see the works from anywhere and you have the opportunity to share it on internet without any cost.

To summarize, there are several
tools could be very helpful to develop our lesson plans and use them for making control, semi control and free practice activities in order to help students to improve their skills, ability of thinking, etc, by developing a lot of activities; nowadays, teachers have the opportunity to develop their teaching very different than the past, they not only have to use the traditional exams or ways to evaluate their student, but they have new ways to have an interactive and interesting class and manners to develop our lesson, as teachers we have to take advantages of using technology to educational purposes, because if we as teachers have a meaningful class, obviously, students can improve their skills and learning process and our objectives are going to be successful.

<reading-text>Everyone has a favorite attraction at an amusement park, and I
am no different. However, unlike most people who seem to prefer
rollercoasters, my favorite ride is a little more gentle. Every time I go to
Coney Island, Navy Pier, or the Santa Monica Pier, I absolutely have to
ride the Ferris wheel.
The Ferris wheel is simple and yet also quite complex. That is,
riding it is easy, but how it works is complicated. A series of carts are
attached to a wheel, which is attached to a rim. That rim rotates
vertically around an axis, and gravity keeps the carts upright. As simple
as the ride seems, only advanced engineers can make safe and fun
Ferris wheels.

What It Lacks in Thrills…

While the Ferris wheel is not as thrilling as a rollercoaster, it is still very exciting. The fact of being
high in the air makes it so much more entertaining than a lot of rides. I mean, how often do you hang from that high up in daily life?
Nevertheless, I have to admit, I don’t seek Ferris wheels out because of their excitement. Rather,
I find them very relaxing. At the top of the Ferris wheel, you get beautiful sights of the park. You also get a sense of calm that you don’t get in the hustle and bustle of the park below.
Additionally, Ferris wheels are also gorgeous to look at when they are lit up at night. In fact, the
original Ferris wheel was designed as much to be seen as to be ridden.

It Happened at the World’s Fair

The first Ferris wheel was made by and named after George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. He
designed it for the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. It was the tallest attraction there, standing 264 feet high.
However, visitors to the fair were impressed by the size of the ride as well as the mechanics of it.
In 1893, anything that was not turned by hand was considered a sight to see. And the wheel, which was a machine, was truly incredible to see. Further, as one visitor put it, the wheel was amazing because it seemed to be missing support. That is, it did not look like it could stand on its own. And yet it did and even rotated!

They Keep Reaching Higher and Higher

Ferris wheel technology has only improved since then. Most of today’s Ferris wheels are much
larger than that first one. The largest in the world is the "Singapore Flyer," which stands slightly taller than twice what Ferris’s did!
Today, the Ferris wheel is the most common amusement park ride. But that does not mean you
should take them for granted. Instead, be thankful for Ferris’ invention. The next time you’re at an
amusement park, don’t just look up at the impressive wheel in the sky on your way to a newer attraction. Take it for a spin!
